The all-new Atlas Cross Sport is designed to be fun to drive and capable inside and out. It features two engine options and 4MOTION All-Wheel Drive that extend your driving adventures through all seasons. However, winter can challenge many drivers. Here's how the Atlas Cross Sport's features add more confidence whenever you experience this season's weather extremes.
4MOTION All-Wheel Drive is standard on all models
The Atlas Cross Sport constantly fine-tunes the vehicle's traction with the advanced 4MOTION AWD system. It factors in road conditions, speed, fuel efficiency and more to conquer Canada's most challenging winter roads.
4MOTION monitors which wheels have the best traction and direct torque to those wheels. For example, if you drive on slippery roads in the winter and encounter a sharp turn that causes a wheel or wheels to lose traction, the system applies the brake to the spinning wheels and redistributes power to wheels that are gripping.
As a matter of fact, 4MOTION is always engaged, continuously adjusting torque and power to all wheels considering driving conditions.
The entire system is made up of two components. An electronically-controlled plate clutch monitors conditions, wheel slip and torque and distributes power to the assigned wheels. A Torsen differential turns on and shuts off power to the wheels.
The Atlas Cross Sport adds safety to winter
Confidence is key during winter driving, and the Atlas Cross Sport features driver assistance technology to help you see and react to dangers on the road.
Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert provides a helping hand in letting you know of vehicles approaching hard-to-see areas around the rear of your vehicle. When the snow is falling and visibility is low, this technology adds a virtual layer of protection around the vehicle.
Other available proactive safety features include Front Assist - Autonomous Emergency Braking and Side Assist, Lane Assist, Light Assist, Area View 360 and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
The Atlas Cross Sport also includes several amenities that make winter more bearable once you are inside the vehicle. Standard heated front seats, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and Remote Start will get things warmed up quickly. An optional engine block heater is available with the Comfortline and Execline models.
